ISYF Leader Lakhbir Singh Rode Passes Away in Pakistan

The World Sikh News (WSN) reported on 4 December 2023 that International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) leader Bhai Lakhbir Singh Rode passed away in Pakistan of heart failure on 2 November, where he was cremated as per Sikh tradition. He has been living there for the last many decades, WSN notes.

Pakistan Appoints a Sikh as Ambassador for Kartarpur Corridor

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora as the Ambassador-at-Large for Kartarpur Corridor. A notification in this regard was reportedly issued on 1 March 2023. S. Ramesh Singh Arora will work in the position in an honorary capacity, the notification said.

Sikh Body Wants Indian Government to Reopen Kartarpur Sahib Corridor

The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has demanded that the government of India should reopen Kartarpur Sahib corridor for yatris. The corridor which connects Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal district of West Punjab with Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district of East Punjab was opened in November last year to allow Sikhs from eastren side to visit the sacred place of Kartarpur Sahib, once inhabited by Guru Nanak Ji.
